Their domination in baseball is like no other team in any other sport.
It's hard enough having the highest payroll in baseball, and a boss who demands you to win each and every. Now you go and add probably the top 3 free agents (CC Sabathia, Mark Teixera, & AJ Burnett) to a team that already had potential to go all the way, and the expectations sore highly.
I myself thought the Yanks had the right pieces to win the World Series, they just had to have the right chemistry for once.
Now them winning 103 games in the regular season was great, but their success to me can only be measured by what they do in the post-season. I really was only worried about the Angels, because they've always seem to take the Yanks out of their game. However, when we got to the ALCS to face the Angels those fears quickly went away because of how dominant their pitching was, and the fact that A-Rod was finally swinging the bat like he should've in past post-seasons.
As for the World Series I think a lot of the new faces, and young stars on the team were just nervous and that was the cause of their Game 1 defeat. Not taking nothing from the Phillies, the Yanks should've demolished them in that game.
Moreover, this was just the perfect season for the Yanks and the World Series title just capped it off. They had the best record in the league this year, their probably going to have the MVP, and Cy Young winners come from their team, and now they are the CHAMPS.
"This thing is right where it belongs" stated Derek Jeter while holding the trophy. He most definitely is right, the Yanks are the only team who can face adversity and beat easily. Also, they're the only New York sports team who can win championships and give fans the right to cheer and defend them.
Congrats Yankees, we definitely need more of these in New York. Let's go for #28
